Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

Today was a fun day!

Maija and I ventured off to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary! And it was pretty cool!
We saw sheep, baby chicks, goats, all kinds of birds, bats, kangaroos, koalas, dingos, emus and a whole lot more.

We were even allowed to feed the kangaroos and I held a koala!! :) There wasn't much to it. The employee had me put my hands together by my waist and she just plopped the koala's butt down on my hands. She then put his hands on my shoulders and he just clung on. It was pretty cool. In the pictures it looks like he's clawing his way into my arms, but it really didn't hurt. A little prickly, but nothing so much that it would hurt. He was so cute. He'd just kind of move his head slowly from side to side. The employee would have to turn his head towards the camera every time. There was one time where he looked right up at my face. It was pretty cool.

Afterwards, Maija and I went in search of some food. We were craving hamburgers and fries, but the place we wanted to go wasn't open and wouldn't open until 5pm. Then we went to Chinatown planning to go to a Thai restaraunt. It ended up being closed as well. When hope was almost lost - and McDonald's was even calling our name - we found a nice little Café that was relatively cheap and looked pretty tasty. We ordered and plopped ourselves down for a nice meal. It was delicious. I even indulged and had myself a 'Pepsi Light' - first Pepsi since I've been here.

It was fabulous. :)

Good day.
Tiring, but fun.

Awwww, the koalas and kangaroos are so cute! Can you bring one home in your suitcase? It can stay at my house and live in the backyard with Riley!

Pepsi Light sounds like it's a Diet Pepsi. Do they taste the same? Or is it just not as heavy? :-} Love the koalas. They look sort of like your racoon. :-)

Hi Andie!!!

We got the adorable postcard of you and the koala... I can't believe you actually held one! Looks like you are having a lot of fun - aside from the gigantic mosquito bites. They must like foreigners, because I was covered in them (and miserable) when I went to Spain.

Where are you working???
